My first 2016 weigh in!

This week I have been trying hard to get back on track. Generally I have been pretty good with the meals, with a few treats here and there. However it seems to have worked….

This week I lost …. 5 pounds!

I am so amazed with this result, this puts be back on track and I have taken off all of the Christmas weight in one week! I owe this to getting back into a routine, eating at proper times and doing a lot more walking due to starting back at work. I went from being a slob and eating lots of chocolate over Christmas – to eating 3 healthy (ish) meals a day and exercising at work.

My general food diary for this week has been:

Breakfasts – Weetabix with milk.
Lunch – Bento style lunch box with tuna rice salad, grapes, a Clementine and a few Maltesers.
Dinners – Mostly plain pasta meals with one delicious curry made by John’s lovely sister and her partner.

I have been having a couple of treats in the evening – especially as I have had a few different pieces of upsetting news this week. I still struggle to control my comfort eating. But we might get there one day!

It feels good to be back on track and I feel more motivated than ever!

For Christmas I was lucky enough to receive a Fitbit Charge, something I had never considered buying for myself, but as soon as I opened it I realised how much I wanted to use one.

The Fitbit is a band which can record loads of statistics from your day, for example:

  • How many hours of sleep you had.
  • How many steps you have taken.
  • How many calories you have burned.
  • Number of stairs climbed.
  • Miles walked.

It also makes a great alarm clock, which vibrates to to wake you up at a time programmed through the app.

If you are on a calorie controlled diet the app allows you to enter any food, drinks and exercise you have done in order to keep on track of your daily calorie intake.

So far I have found this really useful. I need to up my exercise and it is surprisingly tough to reach the recommended 10,000 steps a day. I have been doing about half that so far (which is all at work, when I get home I just collapse on the sofa!)

New Year, New Job and a Fresh Start

Happy New year! (Better late then never! Sorry about that)

The last few weeks have been so crazy for me! I have first of all had a huge change by starting a new job. Today was my first day, as scary and tiring as it was, it’s so exciting to be starting my career as a teacher.

Along with the new job I have got back home after visiting family over the holidays, therefore the healthy eating plan is back on track 🙂 I started again today with a new sense of enthusiasm. I really want to succeed in order to perform better at work, fit into more of my clothes and most of all become a healthier person.

I’m looking forward to losing a few pounds, settling into a routine and making the most of 2016.

2 Weeks of Stress and comfort eating!

Hi all! I am really sorry for being absent for a while, let me explain what I’ve been up to!

So I decided a while ago that I wanted to become a secondary school teacher. Just under a month ago the applications opened, so I applied to 3 options. I first heard back 2 weeks ago, and since then I have had 5 different interviews! This is cause so much stress and worry for me. However I have been offered places at all 3! This is such amazing news for me, now the hardest part will be decided which one to choose.

While this has been going on, I have to admit that healthy eating has not been a priority for me. I also fell into the habit of comfort eating, because I always think it will help (although it never does!).

There are so many reasons why I need to get back on track now, they are building up more and more every day. With Christmas just around the corner, I am really disappointed that I haven’t achieved as much as I wanted to.  The trouble is… I always want everything to be done straight away, I hate waiting for anything! I know this is something which is going to take me a long time, so I think that its stressing me out and thinking about it gets me down.

Next stage for me is trying to keep my head up and keep moving forward. Eventually I might get there.

Hope you are all well!

My plan for the next year!

The past few weeks has been a struggle…

After being kicked out of my healthy routine for half term, everything went a bit downhill. I have put on a few pounds which is really disappointing, however I am determined to take them off again and keep going.

Its the run up to Christmas now, before we know it 2016 will be around the corner. There are a few big things I really want to lose weight for next year which will keep me motivated. Mainly I have got 2 holidays planned for next year, which I would absolutely love to have lost weight for. I don’t mind how much weight I can lose between now and then, I don’t want to put myself under lots of pressure. But if I could be more comfortable and happier in how I look then that would be perfect.

Shopping Spree!

Whenever my mum visits… we always end up at the shops! Once again this week when she came up to see me, we spent a couple of hour shopping while my younger brother hides away in the car, trying to avoid shopping as much as possible.

This time I bought 2 main outfits and a few other bits and pieces. The first outfit, which I wore to a party on Friday looks like this:

The black dress is a little on the short side so I wore some thick black tights with it, along with the silver cardigan and shoes. The dress came from George at Asda, the cardigan came from Wallis and the shoes were Dorothy Perkins.

The second outfit is a work dress and jacket which I can’t wait to wear!

Both came from Wallis that had a 30% off sale on! They were hung together on the shelf and I couldn’t resist trying them on.

Let me know what you think!

A Week of Overindulgence

Half term week; A well-needed rest from work, and an excuse to stray from the diet and overindulge in every way possible. I realise I have been absent from my blog for a little longer than 2 weeks… needless to say… this week it’s back to reality and back to the realisation of trying to lose weight.

I think it is the true test of will power, following a period of over-eating and too many treats, to get straight back onto the diet and once again cut out all of those foods that you crave. This week will be my test. Weighing in tomorrow will show me the result of enjoying myself too much. Hopefully it won’t take me too long to lose that frustrating few pounds that feel like you are taking 2 steps backwards for every half-step towards your goal.

The plan for this week is to return to eating healthily, add in some exercise and begin to lose the weight I am sure to have put on over the past week or so.

Hope you have all had a great week!
